Barenaked Ladies are from Toronto, Canada.
They make great, versatile Music with intelligent Lyrics.
In Europe (except England) BNL are not very well known.
But in the U.S.A. they had a No 1 Hit with One Week in 1998.
There they are selling out Stadiums with an audience of 20'000.
A lot of Improvisation and Comedy is included in all their Shows.
Every Concert is different.
Fans travel from all over the world to BNL Shows,
and often they follow the Band for several Shows in a row.

Short History

Steven Page and Ed Robertson went to the same School
and knew each other since the early childhood.
Being two very opposite characters,
they hung out in different Cliques,
and didn't really talk to each other for a long time.

In summer 1988 both were as Counsellors in a Music Camp.
So it happened, that they (Ed 17, Steven 18) were standing on stage together for the first time.

After that they became close friends.

In October 1988 Ed was supposed to play a gig at a Benefit Concert with his Band.
The problem was, that Ed's Band had broken up.
A phone call came from the Organizer, asking if they were still up.
Ed said yes, but the Name of the Band has changed.
We are now called (he scrolled down a list of fictive Band names,
that he had joked about recently with Steven): "Barenaked Ladies"!

Now Ed had to call Steven, to ask if he will do the gig.
Steven couldn't believe, that Ed called them Barenaked Ladies.
But it was only supposed to be for one Show, so what.

The Second Harvest Food Bank Benefit Concert at the Nathan Phillips Square
in Toronto, on October 1st 1988
was the first Concert and birth-hour of Barenaked Ladies.

Although BNL had not even a real Repertoire for that Show,
they were asked to do another show.
After that more and more Gig offers came.
And so, BNL still exist today!

1989 Steven and Ed were on tour as an opening Act of Corky and the Juice Pigs.
During a Tour break, at home in Toronto, they organized a concert for their friends.
As a special surprise they had two friends from Music Camp
sit in for some Songs:
Andy Creeggan on Congas and Jim Creeggan on Bass.

Because everybody involved loved it, they decided, that Andy and Jim would belong to BNL now.
Now, they were a real Band, and no more just a Duo!

BNL were never looking for a Drummer.
But Tyler Stewart was such an enthusiastic BNL Fan, that he really wanted to join the Band.

After Tyler joined BNL in 1990, Andy played mostly Keyboards.

1995 Andy Creeggan decided to leave BNL.
Since 1995 Kevin Hearn plays Keyboards for BNL.
