Auf der Bühne eine Band aus Toronto (Canada)
BARENAKED LADIES
Ich im Publikum, total verblüfft,
Noch nie hatte ich eine Band erlebt
Und ich hatte geglaubt, dass ich alles schon gesehen und gehört habe.
Ich hatte einige grossartige Konzerte gesehen, welche ich nie vergessen werde.
An das erwähnte Konzert, ging ich ohne Grosse Erwartungen.
Von diesem CNN Auftritt hatte ich in Erinnerung,
Dank diesem eigenartigen Namen, konnte ich mich aber an den CNN Auftritt erinnern,
Universal Amphitheatre
Universal City (Los Angeles)
mit dem seltsamen Namen:
weil ich kaum glauben kann, was ich hier sehe und höre.
mit so viel Energie, Frische, Humor, Spielfreude, Charisma...
Und dies alles kombiniert mit vielseitiger, schöner Musik und intelligenten Texten.
Zu all dem haben Barenaked Ladies (BNL) ein ausserordentliches Talent für Improvisation.
Konzerte jeder Stilrichtung (Rock, Pop, Punk, Funk, Jazz, Reggae, Latin...) und Grösse
(kleine Club-Konzerte mit einem Publikum welches kleiner war als die Band,
über Konzerte mit 100, 1’000, 10'000, 20'000, 50'000 Zuschauern,
bis hin zu einem Mega-Event mit ca. 700'000 Zuschauern).
Aber was ich hier erlebte war anders als alles was ich bis zu diesem Tag gesehen hatte.
Ein Auftritt bei CNN’s „Showbiz Today“ einige Monate zuvor (zum Release von STUNT)
war das einzige, was ich bis dahin von BNL gehört hatte.
dass BNL nicht nur gute Musik machen,
sondern auch witzig und sympathisch sind.
Der Name der Band hatte mir aber nicht gefallen.
Nicht etwa, weil ich „Barenaked Ladies“ sexistisch fand,
sondern weil ich es - als logisch denkender Mensch - nicht verstehen konnte,
dass sich fünf gekleidete Männer „Barenaked Ladies“ nennen.
als ich in Los Angeles (in den Ferien) Konzerthinweise durchgesehen hatte.
Today, 4 Years Later
Heute, 4 Jahre, 8 BNL Konzerte, 1 BNL Trip nach London, 2 BNL Trips nach America,
BNL verstehen es ausserordentlich gut, das Publikum zu „Entertainen“!
Nach den Konzerten gibt’s oft Möglichkeiten die Bandmitglieder für Fotos, Autogramme,
Aber nicht nur Band und Crew sind ausserordentlich. Auch die Fans sind fantastisch!

Me in the audience, completely amazed.
Never before had I seen a Band
And I had thought, that I had seen it all!
I had seen a couple of great shows, that I never forget.
To the mentioned concert, I went without big expectations.
From this CNN appearance, I remembered,
But thanks to this strange name I was remembering this CNN appearance,
Today, 4 Years Later
Today, 4 Years, 8 BNL Shows, 1 BNL Trip to London, 2 BNL Trips to America,
BNL have an incredible ability to entertain the audience.
After the shows there are often possibilities to meet the Band
But not only the Band and Crew are very exceptional. Also the fans are fantastic!

und 1 BNL Trip nach Canada später, bin ich absolut davon überzeugt:
Barenaked Ladies sind einzigartig!
Jedes Konzert ist anders. Die Set List wechselt ständig.
Bei jedem Konzert gibt es Improvisationen und Interaktivität mit Zuschauern.
Und natürlich grossartige Musik, mit viel Energie und Frische vorgetragen.
und Fragen persönlich zu treffen. Dabei wird klar, dass die Ladies trotz Erfolg
(mit „One Week“ immerhin ein No. 1 Hit in den U.S. Charts!) “Auf dem Boden” geblieben sind.
Vor Konzerten wird via bulletin board abgemacht, wo man sich vor der Show trifft,
mit welchen Inside-Jokes man die Band überrascht, in welchem Hotel man übernachtet...
Dank dem Coolen Fan Club kriegen die Fans jeweils die besten Plätze.
Dadurch sind alle Fans nahe beieinander, in guter Sichtweite zur Band.
(In America und Canada sind die meisten grossen Konzerte bestuhlt,
mit nummerierten Plätzen. Dies heisst allerdings nicht, dass das Publikum
während des Konzerts sitzt! Jeder muss aber bei seinem Platz stehen.)
nicht nötig, über Barenaked Ladies zu informieren!
habe ich beschlossen eine Webpage zu kreieren.
Es gibt im deutschsprachigen Raum bereits 3 BNL Fan-Pages.
(Siehe Links!) Alle sind ausgezeichnet. Ich glaube aber es schadet nicht
noch eine 4. dazuzufügen.
Und ich denke ich weiss genug über BNL,
dass ich eine Ergänzung zu der vorhandenen Information bieten kann.
und ich viele BNL Fans aus dem englischsprachigem Gebiet kenne,
habe ich beschlossen, die Page zweisprachig zu führen.
Barenaked Ladies ist der coolste Bandname, den es je gegeben hat!

I couldn't believe, what I saw and heard here.
with so much energy, humor, fun, charisma...
And that all combined with versatile, beautiful music and intelligent lyrics.
Next to all that, they have an incredible talent for improvisation.
Concerts of every style (Rock, Pop, Punk, Funk, Jazz, Reggae, Latin...) and size
(from the smallest club gig, whit an audience that was smaller than the band,
to concerts with 100, 1’000, 10'000, 20'000, 50'000 folks,
up to a Mega-Event with circa 700'000 visitors).
But what I experienced here was different than anything else I had seen until that day.
An appearance at CNN’s „Showbiz Today“ a couple of months earlier
(for the release of STUNT)
was the only thing I had ever heard of BNL before.
that BNL not only make great music,
but they are funny and very likable too.
I didn't like the name of the Band though.
It's not that I thought "Barenaked Ladies“ is sexist,
but as a logical thinking person, I couldn't understand,
that five clothed men call themselves „Barenaked Ladies“.
when I was in Los Angeles (for Vacation) checking out concert ads in the "L.A. Weekly".
and 1 BNL Trip to Canada later, I'm absolutely sure:
there is no other band like Barenaked Ladies.
Every show is different. The Set List changes all the time.
Every concert includes improvisation and interactivity with the audience.
And of course great music, performed with a lot of energy and fun.
for questions, autographs and pictures. There you can find out, that although BNL are big now
(with „One Week“ a No. 1 Hit in the U.S. Charts!) they are still very likable.
Before the shows, arrangements are made via bulletin board.
(Where everybody meets before the show, in what hotel everybody is staying,
what Inside Joke will be played on the Band...)
Thanks to the cool Fan Club, members get the best seats.
Because of that, all the big fans are close to each other,
and in a good range of sight to the Band.
doesn't consider it necessary to inform about BNL!

They are great. But I think it won't hurt to add a 4th.
And I think I know enough about BNL,
to offer some additions to the existing Information in German.
and I know many BNL Fans from the English-speaking region,
I decided to do the Site bilingual.
I just hope that what I write makes sense!
If not, please contact me to let me know,
so I might be able to fix it.
And I'm happy, if you let me know about Typos,
so I can fix them too!
