... We have some exciting events coming up – next week we start recording a Seasonal Non-Denominational Holiday Festivities Album, to be released later this year. I have recently built a studio in a barn our at my farm (well, actually, it’s not actually quite finished yet, so I’m biting my fingernails down to the quick) and we’re going to record it there. Not quite sure what it will sound like yet, but my money’s on sleigh bells…. ...

... We’re up here at my farm, recording this holiday album – we’ve got four bed tracks done, and I think we’re on track now, after a slow start. We’ve got five new originals, plus some old chestnuts and some BNL holiday favourites. Hopefully we’ll have some interesting guests as well. We’ll let you know as stuff progresses. We considered putting up a streaming webcam as cooler people like Beck do, but then you’d be subjected to a lot off shots of us with our pants off, rather than the usual bored engineer backing up files, and that’s just not cool. ...

... The Xmas album is done - Michael Phillip Wojewoda is mixing it next week, but all the recording is done. I think it's really good - most holiday records sound like they're phoned in, but some, like Mary Margaret O'Hara's or the Roches' ones. I really hope this falls into the latter category. I think we went into this thinking it would be a nice souvenir to have at the holidays, but now I think we all feel it's a real Barenaked Ladies record. I guess when it comes down to it, how do we NOT make a Barenaked Ladies record - we really don't ever phone it in, and we had a lot of fun making this record. Everybody sings, and there's a bunch of new originals, plus some nice surprises. ...

Michael Buble Article (The Plain Dealer/cleveland.com - June 12, 2004)
... That's just one of several projects Buble has going at the moment. He'll be a guest on Barenaked Ladies' upcoming Christmas album, dueting on "a song about disgruntled elves." ...

... BNL plans to start recording its next studio album early next year, for a summer 2005 release.
In the meantime, the band is putting the finishing touches on a holiday album, due in stores later this year. Fans can look forward to a mix of original and traditional tunes for Hanukkah and Christmas.
Page wrote a song titled "Hanukkah Blessings." Robertson contributed "Elf," a Rat Pack-style number with a guest appearance by latter-day crooner Michael Buble.
BNL also re-recorded "Green Christmas," its contribution to the "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" soundtrack.
"We have one of the most terrifying versions of 'Jingle Bells' you've ever heard, too," Page said. "It's somewhere between absolutely hilarious and really annoying, which is probably how most people think of Barenaked Ladies." ...
